Genus Description - Monoecious or polygamous shrubs or small trees, unarmed. Leaves alternate, simple, serrate, 3-nerved at the base, petiolate; stipules minute and early deciduous. Flowers 5-merous, unisexual or bisexual, in axillary cymose clusters; calyx of free sepals; stamens as many as the sepals, inserted on the calyx tube, the anthers opening by longitudinal slits; ovary superior, sessile, l-locular, the styles 2, undivided. Fruit a drupe; stones 1-seeded.
