Genus Description - Shrubs or small trees. Leaves imparipinnate; leaflets numerous, opposite; stipules minute, deciduous; stipels wanting. Flowers to medium, in terminal racemes or panicles, the bracts minute; calyx bell-shaped, with 5 minute teeth at apex; corolla white or yellow, the standard ovate to rounded, clawed at base, the wings and keel clawed, of similar length; stamens 10, free; ovary stipitate, with several ovules, the style incurved, the stigma punctiform. Legume linear, nearly cylindrical with constrictions between seeds, beaked at apex, tardily dehiscent; seeds numerous, ovoid to globose.
Distribution and Ecology - A genus of 50 species with pantropical and subtropical distribution.
