    Species Description - Stems 2-3 mm high. Leaves ± twisted-recurved when dry, 1.5-2 mm long, linear-lanceolate, rather bluntly acute; margins recurved, entire or somewhat serrulate at the tip; cells oblong, firm-walled. Autoicous. Setae 2.5-4 mm long; capsules erect, light- or dark-brown, shiny, smooth, ellipsoidal, 2-3 mm long, the neck, urn, and operculum of similar lengths (usually about 1 mm long); annulus revoluble; peristome none. Spores about 23-37 µm, coarsely papillose.

    The urn is shiny and ellipsoidal, and the neck is about as long as the urn but very slender and inconspicuous. It is not strumose at base.

    On soil; Nayarit (Compostela) and Veracruz (Pico de Orizaba, F. Mueller, type, NY).—Endemic.
