Species Description - Plants up to 7.5 mm long, simple or branched. Leaves usually 1.2-1.7 mm long, mostly oblong-ligulate with abruptly narrowed, rounded-obtuse apices, not caducous; margins ± crenulate, unbordered; costa ending 4-10 cells below the apex; dorsal lamina usually rounded below and ending at or somewhat above the insertion; vaginant laminae ± unequal, about 1/2 - 2/3 the leaf length; cells rounded-hexagonal, 6-9 µm, appearing bulging but actually convex-thickened, somewhat larger in the vaginant laminae and thicker-walled. Autoicous. Setae terminal on stems and branches, up to 4.5 mm long; capsules ± ovoid, up to 1 mm long; opercula long-rostrate; peristome teeth complete, divided to below the middle, with horizontal ridges and horizontally to vertically arranged papillae, spirally thickenedpapillose above. Spores 11-15 um, finely to coarsely papillose. Calyptrae cucullate.

Distribution
On limestone, decaying wood, and tree bark at low elevations; Campeche, Quintana Roo, Yucatan.—Mexico; Guatemala and Belize; West Indies; Florida and the Bahamas.
