Species Description - Erect shrub, 1-2 m tall, much-branched from base; stems peduncles, and leaves canescent. Leaf blades 0.6-3.5 x 0.4-2.5 cm, ovate, chartaceous, 3-veined from near base or palmately so from base, both surfaces canescent and glandular or infrequently solely glandular, the apex broadly acute to rounded, the base cuneate to truncate, the margins subentire to 2-5 sinuately lobed; petioles 2-9 mm long. Inflorescence terminal, several-headed, corymbiform, often appearing paniculate by dense stem branching. Heads 8-10-flowered, 7-10 x 2.5-3 mm; involucre 5-7 mm long, 3-5-seriate; outer involucral bracts elliptic, ca. 1.5 x 1 mm, canescent and glandular, persistent, greatly spreading with age, the inner involucral bracts lanceolate, to 6 x 1.3 mm, canescent and glandular or only so at tips, commonly deciduous; receptacle flat to dome-shaped on top, sides of receptacle obscured by persistent outer involucral bracts, 0.4 mm broad; peduncles 2- 11 mm long. Corollas 3.5-4 mm long, glandular, cream-colored to lavender. Achenes 3-4 mm long, glandular and weakly puberulent; pappus bristles 3.5-4 mm long, slightly expanded at the tips.

Distribution
Occasional in disturbed areas to rocky hillsides. Nanny Point (A2444), Lameshur (B635). Also on Guana Island, St. Croix, St. Thomas (fide de Candolle, Prodr. 5: 155. 1836), Tortola (fide D'Arcy, 1967), and Virgin Gorda; Cuba, Hispaniola, Puerto Rico, and the Lesser Antilles.
