    Species Description - Rhizomes suberect; rhizome scales dark-castaneous, lustrous, lanceolate, 5–7(–10) x 1–3 mm, margins entire to denticulate; fronds 1–1.4 m long; stipes stramineous to tan, 25–70 cm long, 1/2–2/3 the frond length, with brown, ovate-lanceolate scales at stipe bases; blades pinnate, 40–60 x 20–26 cm; pinnae 12–18 pairs, 12–24 x 2–3 cm, serrately incised or lobed less than 1/4 their width, proximal pinnae stalked to 5 mm, all but proximal 2–4 pairs adnate and long-decurrent onto rachises, those of distal 1/3 of blade connected by a wing; rachises with sparse bifid or trifid scales, tips clavate; costae abaxially with sparse, tan, lanceolate, scales 0.3–0.8 mm long with clavate tips; adaxial costal grooves minutely pubescent, hairs especially dense near pinna bases; veins 3–6 pairs per segment, not united or rarely the basalmost veins casually united; sori in a double row between costules, 2–5 pairs of sori per segment.
