Discussion
Type. Costa Rica. Aguacate, Hoffmann 907 (B?; isotype K). Selaginella eurynota is part of a complex, along with S. schizobasis and S. sertata, which is in need of detailed work. Selaginella eurynota, found on the Pacific slope of Mexico, has leaves very similar to those of the other two species. It differs from S. schizobasis, found on the Atlantic slope of Mexico from Veracruz to Tabasco, in having large lateral leaves near the step tips and smaller leaves near the base of the stem and is suberect in habit. Selaginella schizobasis roots along most of its length. Selaginella sertata, which also occurs on the Pacific slope, has flagelliform stems.
