Species Description - Rhizome growing chiefly on surface of ground, often forming tussock-like clumps. Fronds 0.6- 1.5 m long, long-stipitate; sterile blades oblong to lance-elliptic, up to 1 m long, mostly 8-15 cm broad, acuminate at apex, slightly reduced or truncate at base, pinnate-pinnatifid; rhachis woolly-tomentose at first, becoming nearly glabrous at maturity, but a tuft of tomentum persisting at the base of each pinna. Pinnae spreading or obhque, distant or more usually close or somewhat imbricate, narrowly oblong, mostly 1- 2 cm broad, deeply pinnatifid; segments oblong, 3-6 mm broad, more or less rounded at apex and essentially entire, glabrous or minutely and sparsely tomentose and glandular; veins mostly 1-forked near base. Fertile blades normally without chlorophyll, soon withering, 2-pinnate with densely agglomerated linear divisions completely covered by sporangia.
