Species Description - Filaments relatively straight and more or less parallel, attached at one end, forming a dense velvety stratum, 4-7 mm. long, 3.5-4 µ diam.; trichomes 1.4-1.6 µ diam., not constricted at the dissepiments, not attenuated at the apices; cells mostly quadrate, but varying from slightly shorter to 2 times as long as the diameter, cross-walls moderately conspicuous, apical cell rounded, terminal wall not thickened; sheath subgelatinous, hyaline, homogeneous.
Distribution and Ecology - Growing on stones in a brook in the vicinity of San Lorenzo, no. 501 a, type.
