Species Description - Glabrous shrub. Branchlets very slender, striate lengthwise. Leaves elliptic to elliptic-oblong, rarely narrowly so, apex gradually attenuate or subacuminate, tip subacute, base acutely attenuate, the very base decurrent to the petiole, firmly chartaceous, grayish-olivaceous and somewhat shining above when dry, sparsely tuberculate on both surfaces, edge a little revolute, (2-)4-6 x (1-) 1.5-2 cm, in sterile shoots to 10 x 5 cm, midrib a little raised above, more distinctly so beneath, lateral nerves 5-6 pairs rather straight from the midrib, curved-ascending and looping before the margin, slightly prominent on both surfaces, reticulation of veins visibly raised above only; petiole 2-3 mm long. Flower(s) 1 or usually 2 on top of solitary axillary very slender peduncles (8-15 mm long), sessile; bracteoles of the epicalyx more or less completely connate into a shallowly lobed ciliolate cup 1 mm long. Corolla whitish-green except its purple base, ovate-cylindric and 5(-5.5) mm long in the dolichostylous flowers, 5-lobed in the upper 1/3, lobes ovate-triangular, reflexed. Corolla in the brachystylous flowers more cylindrical, 4.5-5 mm long, and lobed to ¼ only. Disk and top of ovary glabrous. Drupe ellipsoid, red, turning black, (10-) 12 x 8-9 mm.
