Diagnostic characters of this species are the globose seeds in correlation with the 5-lobed leaves. The disjunct distribution of Amoreuxia wrightii is discussed on p. 7.

Distribution and Ecology: This species is centered in northeastern Mexico and adjoining Texas. It also occurs in Yucatan, on Curação and in Peru. Compared with the other two species, this seems to be a lowland form, the altitude ranging from sea level to 400 m. It inhabits dry rocky or gravelly hills and plains, and occurs in deserts, grassland or brush, but also along highways and railroads. Flowers May to July (to October).
