Pitcher Plants sometimes attract insects to their specialized leaves with nectar or by having red pigments called anthocyanins. Once the insect lands on the rim, they slip and fall into the pitcher and are digested. The inside surface of the pitcher can have hairs pointing down, making it hard for the insect to climb back up.
