Brazil. Maranhão. Loreto Mun. "Ilha de Balsas" region, between the Balsas and Parnaíba Rivers. Ca. 13 km SE of main house of Fazenda "Morros", ca. 45 km. south of Lorêto. Along trail to Santa Bárbara.

Habitat
On river shore at base of a steep slope of side of plateau. Vegetation forest-like with elements of "chapada". [See label for further habitat description.].

Description
Tree 4 m. tall, trunk 6 cm. d.b.h.. Flowers 7.5-8 cm. diam. Sepals light green, tinged with red. Petals yellow, dotted with red. Filaments & style golden-yellow. Ovary light yellowish-green, stigma same color. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
