Description
Herb to c. 2 m, branching above. Very prickly, prickles on main stems somewhat retrorse. Fruits abundant, orange-yellow in trusses of 1 to (?), 13-14 mm diameter, globular, firm. Flowers pale yellow (creamy), deeply stellate, lobes narrow, tend to be recurved at the apex. C. 2 cm diameter when recurved (2.5 cm extended). Anthers erect in cone, deeper yellow though apex paler, style scarcely exceeding anther apex. In condensed cymes, peduncle c. 5 mm long, pedicel c. 8 mm. Truss of c. 6 flowers (but end of season and dry summer). Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fertile, Fruit.
