Description
Common tree in this habitat. Stem solitary to ca. 5m tall, ca. 25cm diam, swollen at the base, grey waxy green internodes and brown leaf scars 4cm wide; crownshaft to ca. 70cm; sheath to 40cm, very densely covered with thick red-brown tomentum, sheath partially open; leaf 4.5m; petiole absent; leaflets very regular, somewhat pendulous, 100 on each side, rachis yellowish. Inflorescence rather massive, to 1.5m; peduncle 60cm, prophyll 30cm, rusty scaly, peducular bract ca. 90cm; infl. branching to 3 orders, ca. 16 first order branches; rachillae pale green when young; immature fruit green. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
