Lat: 17. 2 N Long: 89. 12 W Alt: 210 M Department : Peten Close to the road running west from the town of Ciudad Melchior towards Santa Elena about 8km from Ciudad Melchior on low lying ground near the Belize border. Medium-sized tree to l4m ht.; dbh 35cm. with heavy branching and an open crown. Bark smooth mid grey-brown mottled light grey with lichen. Foliage mid green slightly glossy above. Abundant flowers in showy terminal spikes, striking from a distance; calyx dark brown, standard petal purple with a yellow-green basal blotch in centre, wing and keel petals purple fading whitish at base, staminal tube white, developing ovary pale green.
