i nventory collect ion:
These specimens were collected as part of an ecological inventory. A field bota-
nist familiar with the Amazonian flora gave rough on site determinations,
usually to family and sometimes to genus. We understand the inherent difficulty
of identifying sterile specimens to species and that in certain cases it is
“impossible. For those which cannot be named to species, a determination to genus
would be appreciated. If no names can be satisfactorily arrived at, please tell
us how many different "morphotypes'* can be recognized in each genus or family.
lour assistance is invaluable to our research, and we shall be greatly indebted
to you for any determinations you can provide at your earliest convenience.
