Locality:Small hill on S.W. corner of
Linga linga plantation, Talasea, New Brit.

Habitat: Old secondary forest with
occasional large trees on hilltop.
Altitude 300 feet.
Large tree, with broadly spreading
crown. Buttresses up to 18 feet high by
9-10 ft. wide, concave edge, rather thick
and numerous. Height 110 ft., bole 40 ft.,
d.b.h, 30 inches. Various shades of grey-
brown with several layers peeling off in
large scales in the manner of Eugenia,
thickly covered with small lenticels.
Fissures nearly absent. Blaze pink, shading
to white. Wood straw. Odour and exudate
absent. Leaves dark green on upper, light
