12158. Loranthus sphenoideus Blm. Ephiphytic or
parasitic upon shrubs on cliffs near the sea; stem somewhat
running along its host and at the base forming only a small
clump which gives rise to numerous stems; stems branched,
spreading, less than a yard long; leaves pale green, on both
sides, coriaceous, curvingly conduplicate on the upper side;
fruits clustered on short stems scattered along the branches,
purple red and covered with fine brown scurfy scales, slenderly
pyriform 1/2 inch long; flowers 3/4 inch long, curved, at the
apex 4-segmented; yellowish brown on the outside, purple
on the interior; ovary green; style except the green base,
purple, bearing a very deep purple stigma; short filaments
dark purple; anthers yellow, basifixed;
