8735.  Loranthus sphenoidens Elm. Parasitic shrubs upon small slender hardwood trees in the limestone formation 1 mile west of Baguio; bushy, the branches quite rigid but easily breaking; bark smooth, roughened by lighter brown colored lenticels; leaves subcoriaceous, rusty brown especially beneath; flowers deciduous, ascending, rusty on the outside, the lower side split halfway down to the base, the 5 purplish yellow segments reflexed along the upper margin, easily separating from the base; filaments very dark purplish; style and stigma of equal color but persistent; leaves conduplicately twisted upon their ventral sides; fruits yellowish when mature; wood hard and wiry; "Taca" ELMERS FIELD NOTES, 1907.
