Approx. 8°11*S., 76°30*W. Alt. 500 m. Cultivated shrub 3.5 m. tall with cloudy sap. Twigs, leaves, petioles and peduncles dark red- purple. Flowers dark red. Mature fruits brown. N.V. "pinon negro" * Usés: Leaf is chopped up and mixed with aguardi- ente; applied in plaster to forehead for headaches. Also used to counteract witch- craft . PHOTOS Coll. T. Plowman J.
