Shennongjia Forest District (31°3©'N; 110°30'E):
moist soil in open area along left
bank of the river just S of Jiuhuping
Forest Farm on W side of the Jizigou
Canyon. Elevation 1650 m. Straight-
trunked tree to ca. 10 m tall, d.b.h.
20 cm (one branch cut off at base with
d.b.h. 35 cm) , pedicels and peduncles
red, fruits bluish-black, under
surfaces of leaves glaucous.
