South side of road at top of steep hill, associated with Alfaroa and Engelhardia mexicana. Tree fern trunks up to 2 ft. tall, covered with long tapering brown scales. Leaves 6-7 ft. long. Petioles 3-4 ft. long, black, bottom part covered with tapering brown scales and marked by presence of lacy sphlebiae. Collected shoot apices and mature spores.
