  Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Could not find any rivers within 100 km of the town of Sambaituba which are formally recognized by the name "Rio das Caldeiras"; however, found frequent references to the "Caldeiras" of the Rio Almada/Pipito, and the nearby "Cachoeira do Apepique", just upstream from the Lagoa Encantata (http://www.feriasbrasil.com.br/ba/ilheus/lagoaencantada.cfm), which is located very near to the town of Sambaituba. Given these findings, it was assumed that this waterfall (or one of several others along this short stretch of river) is the one specified in the locality description; therefore, georeferenced to a place along the riverbank closest to the approximate geographic center of the section of the Rio Almadas/Pipito immediately upstream from the Lagoa Encantada, starting where the river enters the lake and stretching upstream as far as the visible rapids/waterfalls extend, in Mun. Ilhéus, Bahia. Using Google Maps - Satellite View and Terrain Views, located the Lagoa Encantada and the steep and highly turbulent section of river just upstream from the lake. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line beginning at where the mouth of the river meets the lake (-14.6033573 -39.1302457) to as far as the visible rapids/waterfalls extend upstream (-14.5796326 -39.1168642), then halved this distance to approximate the location of the geographic midpoint of this section of river, and used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates for a point along the shore adjacent to Sambaituba closest to this midpoint. Input coordinates (-14.5844349 -39.1247901), linear extent (distance from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of this specified section of river, 2189.84 m), and measurement error (0.01 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the Uncertainty radius.
