Dear Dr. Britton;
About a year ago I found on Mount Desert
Island Viscaria vulgaris, a piant which is not even
included within the sacred preoinots of the Gray
Manuali I wrote Mip^Rand about it and he confirmed
my gaaeral impression that the thing was perhaps
merely a waif. However* this year I find it in
about the san^e abundance as last year, evidently
flowering and fruiting and thoroughly established
on the edge of the pine woods.
Under separate cover I am sending you a
specimen of this which doubtless should have some note
on it in subsequent editions of the Illustrated flora.
I shall watch the place and if it dies out,
i.., . shall let you know.
