Trixis californica Kellogg var. californica
DURANGO: In thorn-scrub and Larrea desert on
rocky limestone slopes at Micro-ondas station,
ca 30-35 km southwest of Gomez Palacio, over-
looking Mexican Highway 40 (Gomez Palacio -
- Durango) from the west. Elev. 14-1500 m.
Freely branching shrubs 3-8 dm (some dying
back to the ground and growing up again).
Marginal flowers 1-8, bilabiate, the lower
lip ca 6 mm long, 3-toothed, the upper lip
much shorter, bifid. Central flowers 1-5,
more nearly equally bilabiate, with recurved
lips. All flowers perfect.
