Location
Colombia. Antioquia. Vicinity of Planta Providencia, 28 km. southwest of Zaragoza. Valley of Río Anorí in areas surrounding the confluence of Quebrada La Tirana and Río Anorí, approximately 3 km. up river from Planta Providencia.

Habitat
On northwest facing slope in hills on east side of river. Rainfall appproximatley 4400 mm./yr. Primary/old secondary forest. Tropical wet/very wet forest transition zone.

Description
Hairs on inflorescence are red. petioles are swollen at leaf base and are the home of many small red ants, (Tococa sp.). 3 m. shrub. Undescribed, also collected by Fassett, Denslow, in fruit, in duplicate 2/1979, annotation by J. J. Wurdack on label. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
