Medium tropical evergreen forest without emergents,
on flat clay soil, probably flooded during rainy
season. With Mauritia, Euterpe, other palms.

junction with hwy. BR 325, 40 km. (by air) E of
Abuna, 18 km. ENE of Corrego Raiz.

Herbaceous vine at edge. Flowers odorless, visited
by heliconid butterflies; calyx and hypanthium bright
orange; corolla yellow. Note the corolla exceeding
the calyx, otherwise nearly identical to other local
species which is glabrous.
