In rocky, alluvial soil on SW-facing riverbank with Alnus. Rosa.
Aruncus. Rubus & Amelanchier. Unarmed shrubs ca. 1 m tall;
leaf blades broadly elliptic, doubly serrate on distal 2/3, nearly
glabrous, to 6 cm long, slightly decurrent on petioles; flowers in
flat-topped corymbs; petals 5, white, orbiculate + 2 mm long,
usually entire; stamens often > 20; pistils 5, glabrous.
