    2 m. shrub; sml sparse thorns at internodes, lfts. (3-11) oval (elliptic) and serrate, with conspicuous stipules adnate to petiole. Fr. an achene enclosed by fleshy hypanthium (reddish to purple). Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
