In open thickets and amongst scrub in gullies on the Shweli-Salwin divide. Lat, 25°25* N.f Long. 98058* E., Alt. 8-9,000 ft. June, 1924. Note. — A very interesting shrub, with ever- green camellia-like foliage, and pretty, though small, blooms. Free flowering. The leaves are used as tea locally.
