    In dense cloud forest. Extending down to 1500 m and up to c. 2000 m. Common.

  • Description

    Immense A-story tree 100 or more feet tall. Trunk completely covered with epiphytic lvs. and flowers. DBH 24 in. Crown flat and spreading c. 60 ft. wide, 30 ft. tall and laden with epiphytes. Lvs. willow-like when mature, glossy dark green above, pale and glossy below. 1st-year lvs. silvery-canescent below. Bronzy when young. Fl. cauliflorous with dark purple stigmas. Bark of branchlets conspicuously white speckled on dark brown. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
