In a small pond, Eastham, Massachusetts, among other algae,
including Oe. decipiens Wittr., and Oe. platygynum Wittr., both
considerably smaller species with operculate oogonia. In this mater-
ial the suffultory cell of Oe. fiavescens is usually distinctly larger
than the other cells.

It may be a question whether this plant, hitherto reported only
from the Hawaiian Islands, is more than a slender form of Oe. fragile
