  • Description

    Trees with stout trunks mostly to ca. 6 ft. or less but sometimes much more. Clotherd with boots in spite of burning. Leaves erect-arching, pinnas in several planes. Spathes several per crown, yellow or green inside, brown tometose outside with or without line of speines down back. Spadix with golden-yellow male flowers, green female flowers. Leaves with spiny petioles, hanging in age, in youth pochis brown tomentose and spiny below with long brown-black spines. Pinnae light green, glaucescent below. Fruit variable in size, globose, yellow to brown with fine covering of minute blue spines. "Coyal redondo.". Phenology of specimen: Flower.
