Liebre Mountains region, upper southerly flank of Martindale Canyon, just up from Willow Spring on Forest Service Road 6N08, ca. 0.2 miles northwest of the junction with 6N07. Near 34° 33’ 52.2”N 118° 20’ 46.6” W. T6N R14W NW 1/4 SE 1/4 sec. 34. Elev. ca. 4600 ft.
Steep, north-facing slope on metasedimentary substrate weathering to rocky loam soil.
Somewhat open scrub of Quercus chrysolepis, Q. garryana breweri, and Cercocarpus betuloides with numerous open grassy areas.
Arborescent shrubs with deciduous leaves, locally common and forming thickets on mesic slopes.
