Costa Rica. Guanacaste. About 8 km due north of Liberia.

Habitat
Growing on slope above stream in partial shade at edge of grassland. Pastures and remnants of woodland. Trees 5-10 m tall on well drained sites and taller on deepr soils, with Quercus eleoides common over a wide area. On sandy and whitish pumice and tuff soils.
