Species Description - A glabrous shrub 1-3 m. high, or sometimes a tree up to 10 m. high, the twigs slender, gray, the bark rough in narrow plates. Leaves obovate, oblong or elliptic, coriaceous, 2-4 cm. long, rounded or obtuse at the apex, narrowed or cuneate at the base, few-veined, the petioles 1-3 mm. long; peduncles solitary or few together in the axils, 2-8 mm. long, 1-3 -flowered; flowers sessile; corolla ovoid-cylindric, 4-5 mm. long, red to greenish yellow, the lobes ovate or triangular-ovate; fruit globose-obovoid to ellipsoid, 5-8 mm. long; fruit yellow or red when mature.

Thickets and coppices, Abaco, Great Bahama, New Providence. Mariguana and Acklin's : Cuba ; Hispaniola ; Puerto Rico : Anegada. Referred to by Mrs. Northrop as Elaeodcndron xylocarpum. White Beefwood.
