This is the species of Erpodiaceae most commonly encountered in Mexico. It resembles E. biseriatum which is less prolific in growth and has dimorphous leaves arranged in four rows. Erpodium cubense Britt., treated by C r u m (1972b) as a variety of E. domingense, has smaller leaf cells (9-11 µm), emergent capsules, and smaller spores (18-20 µm).
