Species Description - Erect herb to 40 cm tall, with many lateral branches along main stem; stems obtusely 4-angled, puberulent, with minute, curved hairs. Leaf blades 1.5-4.5 x 1-3.5 cm, ovate to triangular, chartaceous, glabrous except for hairs along veins on lower surface, the apex obtuse to acute, the base cordate to truncate, the margins crenate-dentate; petioles 0.5-2.5 cm long. Inflorescence to 15 cm long; bracts elliptic to lanceolate, ca. 2 mm long; calyx green, bell-shaped, 5-7 mm long, pubescent, with many capitate glandular hairs and a few scattered resin dots; corolla with light violet or blue lobes, 7-8 mm long, glabrous, the upper lip shorter than the lower one; stamens shorter than upper lip, the anthers violet. Seeds 4, ellipsoid-flattened, 2-2.2 mm long, grayish, smooth.

Distribution
Common herb, found in open disturbed areas. Mandal (A2575), Susannaberg (A2806). Also on St. Croix; the Greater Antilles, Lesser Antilles, Florida, and Panama.
